So a couple days ago I went to a couple search engines and added http://www.entertainthemind.com (thats my site) then I added my site to about 30 directories as well. Well how come if I type www.entertainthemind.com in google, my site doesn't show up?

Be patient. It can take from a few days to a month for Google to index your site.

Yes. It takes time.

Submit your site directly to Google, Yahoo and other search engines. The listing will be quicker.

It's too funny to expect the results in a couple of days. It should take number of months. You must wait for it by doing the on page and off page optimization methods effectively. Definitely it will give you the good result.

Submit to alexa, cubestat, compete, quantcast etc.

It can take you up to 2 months to get indexed and ranking. I`ve had sites that haven`t got indexed for a couple of months, and then they showed up. Sometimes placing AdSense on your site can help, as well as starting an AdWords campaign pointing to your page.

However, to get some results and a good ranking, you need consistent backlinks, and the more of them, the better. Start building backlinks and work on that every day, and you will see results in 3-5 months (sooner if your site is not new, competition is not too high, or if that`s a Web 2.0 site).

I agree with all above said comments. You must be wait for some more days. Within a couple of days the site will not be appear..

how long you've been working on that site?I google your domain and found it on some forum sites... have you tried to submit a sitemap?

First of all you don't submit to SE ... you gain backlinks and get crawled ...

And 30 dirs means notrhing

Patience and hard work in this field = success so expect for hard things ahead ...

Almost 2 weeks. And how would i submit a sitemap?

I don't submit to SE? Wouldn't that be absolutely stupid not to do? Yes, I understand I need backlinks and what not, but shouldn't it still be listed when i type in my site name?

Nope.

The directories you submitted to are more likely to show up before your site does.

Im just getting into SEO a little more at the moment. Ive had bit of a break and now reading around to get up to date. Its really funny to see all the goings on in the forums and directories. Its as though there are more fake discussions going on than real ones. Even in the SEO forums themselves.

Why don't you try Google webmasters tools, Yahoo Site Explorer and Bing Webmaster central? Or did you mean these when you said that you submitted the site to search engines?

most of directory sites review your submission for 2 week - 4 weeks.

I will try that when I get home. But that's not what I meant. I only submitted them directly to the search engine.

there's no such thing as instant in seo. You have to wait for a longer time to make your site on the top of search engines. One methods isn't enough to make it happen in a short time.
