Hi,
Yesterday I was on the top of the 2nd page for "thai forum" and today I am on the 21st page which is strange.

My meta tags and title was "Thailand expat forum" when I was on the 2nd page, then I saw I was on the second page for "thai forum" search.
So I thought I better change my title, meta tag content and keywords to "Thai forum" So I did that last night and dropped 20 places.

What went wrong there? Did I get penalized for changing my title and tags?

You probably didnt get penalized.

However what has happened is your new keywords probably have more competition then before and your site just doesnt cut it for the new keywords.

Nothing at all and No you didn't.
Have you logged out of your Google account or cleared your cookies?

If no to either:

Wait a while (around a month) and see if where it then "ranks" for you.

If it is still on page 21, change the text back and see if it comes back up. If it does repeat the experiment see if it drops again.

AND has traffic dropped off for that word/phrase?

My traffic has been steady, I am always inmy google account and have never deleted cookies.
I will leave everything for a while and see if it goes back up, otherwise I will change back.

Then why care?

YOU may be only person in the entire world that is seeing that particular SERP or everybody may see it but nobody actually uses that term to find your forum in the first place.

^Nope, but if you was looking for a forum for your nationality you would search for "Brit forum" perhaps, Thai's are more into dating sites and cam sites rather than normal forums.

Aye, I have a friend who is currently working in Thailand who suggested building a "portal site" for such things.
He was quite enthusiatic until it clicked that a budget of 10,000 baht may be a lot in Thailand. But here, it wouldn't buy a set of tyres for his car.

about 80 quid each they are and they don't last long, I mean they are only rubber for Gods sake, and it does grow on trees regardless of what people think, so there is no excuse for these prices.
Some stuff is cheap here though, I have a good rental deal that I have been tied in with for years, 6,000baht per month, about 120 quid for a 6 story building, 4 bathrooms etc, 500 meters from the beach with sort of sea views between the condos in front of me, but nowadays it isn't much cheaper than say living in America.

Much cheaper then living in Australia.
One tip about buying Tyres in Thailand, don't buy them where a lot of farangs/expats live. I live in the outer skirts of Bangkok and they are much cheaper and pretty good quaility.

OK back on topic, will my google searche results be different then other people's google search results?
Also my thai forum dropping 20 pages only happend today, so I won't find out if it will effect my traffic until I check my analytics thing tomorrow.

Definite improvement on some "apartments" in Blackpool.

£90 a week for two rooms & kitchen and bathroom, overlooking dog s**t alley behind the local boozer

Some people, infact most haven't turned off google tracking, so google will try to present you with sites you visit often if you have the tracking on, if your doing seo you have to opt out of it, more here on how to opt out http://koratfart.com/index.php?topic=500.0

Anyway back to Thai forum, i wouldn't worry about it, second page or 100th page most wont see it, better off going for stuff that you have a lot of content on and there are a lot of searches for.
