I have been doing onpage seo from last 2 years and have done quite well, but I am very sorry to say that i haven't been through the word KEI till now. I think it's such a term which either doesn't exist of if exist then rarely used.

On page SEO involves works on keyword density and metatags as far as I know.
But I would like to to learn more about KEI.

The KEI (Keyword Effectiveness Index) is a measure of how effective a keyword is for your web site. The derivation of the formula for KEI is based on three axioms:

1) The KEI for a keyword should increase if its popularity increases.

2) The KEI for a keyword should decrease if it becomes more competitive. Competitiveness is defined as the number of sites which a search engine e.g. Google displays when you search for that keyword using exact match search.

Keyword Effectiveness Index is a mathematical representation of the popularity of a keyword compared to its popularity measured as the number of pages in a search engines index.
KEI is a statistical formulation that reveals the most effective keyword phrases and terms to use in optimize your web pages for. Efficiency can be many things. According to KEI, it is efficient to optimize for keywords that have many searchers, but only a few competing pages.

You guys really pay attention to KEI? Doesn't seem anymore useful than trying to use a keyword 7.98654878% of the time on a page to me......

"On Page" SEO simply refers to the text and content on your web site pages. Basically editing your page and content so the Search Engine can find your webpage when a surfer is searching for your web sites particular topic.

On-page SEO factors

Title: make sure you put your keyword phrase in the page title, not the article title, but the page title. The page title is typically controlled by the menu name but there are ways to circumvent this convention.
Article: make sure you have several mentions of your keyword phrase in your article. Try for about a 3-4% density. That is a good starting point.

WordTracker is so 2000 lol. There are much better tools available free over the last 5 years that provide much better data than WordTracker IMO. So people not having heard of KEI is not surprising.
