To find ethical seo companies, you need to ask for different plan they mention on package which gives the time shedule of the projects and ask previous clients project report and also conferm with words of mouth, you can trust them by these way.

But seriously, look at their previous work. SEO is full of snakeoil salesman. Check whether they promise instant traffic. If so, most probably they are lying. Get in touch with the technical types. Not the marketing types. Usually they know nofing.
