I stumbled across this site...with a PR of 8....it has aton of indexed pages and backlinks....but is only 6 months old and I have no clue how they got an 8....

mind you I do realize something is fishy....help me figure this one out!

Take a look at it in Yahoo's Site Explorer. The number of pages indexed from the site, plus their directory structure and on page anchor text, plus the number of incoming links should provide your answer.

This souds just like a seo myth. Six month a site can chieve pr 8.

Probably the sites that are linking to this site are very good in Google's view. But when I manually checked the backlinks in Google, it shows 303 backlinks, and almost ALL links are internal links (meaning from the same domain) with ONLY ONE backlink from other domain. Yahoo shows more than 11,000 backlinks from other domains.

first of all never use google to check backlinks unless looking through webmaster tools....second there were hidden outbound links on giant sites....see in this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JdsMynJU71E

busy 6 months, whois says registered 2009, archive.org has nothing on it, yahoo see's one link from quantcast of all places

and 34,000 indexed pages.

What I'm always surprised by (and I know I should get over it) is how people get taken in by important "facts".

1/ whois only shows the last change in the registry, so the hostname registration changed six months ago.

2/ Link counting tells you nothing useful.

3/ SGB PR means nothing.

AND I would suggest it take more than six months to get 18,000 plus links/mentions

Including the 30 or so time this same thread has been ~~spammed~~ asked at various forums

i only posted this at 4 forums...it got picked up at a bunch more! and aren't forums used for getting answers? the more eyes on the question the better variety/more responses?
