okay...

let's say (for example) I have a website called: HowToRemainElected.com

and it is going to be my MAIN domain name. Likewise, I expect the people who are looking for my domain to (generally) find it in google using the search words: "How To Remain Elected"

---

now, for branding reasons, I have also registered the other following domains...

- How-To-Remain-Elected(dot)com

- How2RemainElected(dot)com
- How2RemainElected(dot)info

- HowTWORemainElected(dot)com
- HowTOORemainElected(dot)com

_______________________________

My question is then...

which of these domain names is going to get a better search engine ranking than the others, if I expect The Majority of my users to come across my domain name after searching for the keywords "How To Remain Elected" ?

thank you,
Lashtal

that's is the plan.

However, I was curious to know which of these other URLs will usually come SECOND in a search engine ranking based on these search words "How To Remain Elected"

hope that clears up any confusion, and thanks for your help.

I think domain should be simple that means without hyphen would be better, meanwhile I am not telling other one is not good. Both have some different criteria.

I doubt it matters, go with the name you like best.

I think Chris meant that none is automatically better than the others, not that none could pull search traffic. Of course I shouldn't try to speak for Chris, but that was my interpretation.

I don't think it will make a huge difference myself. Regardless of how you think people are going to find you I'd opt for the domain that's going to be easy to remember and type which will be the one without dashes, probably with two spelled out instead of being a number. It's still a good idea to have all those domains for the possible alternate ways someone might type the domain.

By the way given this thread now ranks #1 for the phrase "How To Remain Elected" with the quotes (#4 without quotes) I'm thinking it won't be that hard to rank for the phrase with any domain. I would think any page that uses the exact phrase in the page title is going to be #1 or very close to #1 shortly after it's indexed by Google.

Because "keyword domain names", despite what the "experts" tell you are NOT a significant factor for Search.

And your suggested names (except one) are not even any use if the domain name were to be used as anchor text.

So unless you have plans to use the other hostnames for offline marketing or PPC campaigns you have simply wasted the registration fees.

which domain was this? and, why was this the only one that would benefit from the use of anchor text?

The hyphenated one, simply because hyphens are treated as a word seperator.
