I have a link directory, DirectoryWind.com, that I bought three years ago that had a PR5. Next update after I bought it the PR dropped to 4. Next it went to a 2 and then 0 where it's been for a couple of years.

I've worked hard on this directory and google has over 15,000 inbound links and 216 pages indexed. Only high quality links are approved and I have written a bunch of original articles for it.

I have 6 other link directories with PR2 to PR4.

What can I do to get the PR up on http://DirectoryWind.com

And did you buy it based on the SGB number?

You'd better check your backlinks to see whether they are dead or not. Most of the time, backlinks we gain will be reduced due to the expiration of domain. I think your PR of your site dropped down due to this reason. Some other links exchange, they may not link to your site any more.

True checking your back links will give you some ideas what is happening with your site.

No it won't

It's very simple:

Your pages lost a bunch of links.

scenario:

sign on "Used directory lot"

"PR5 Directory for sale, one careful owner with full service history"

Along comes punter (aka mug) thinks "That's a nice shiny shade of green. Think I'll have that 'cos it'll be a real chick "premium listing" magnet"

NOW! what the punter doesn't realise, is the paint is a "special" type of material and UNLESS you pay a monthly fee it changes back to white over a few months.

footnote:
Apologies to all the birds for using the word "chick" as a reference to the fairer sex
