if you want result then do everything you can. submitting your site form both technique will benefit.

and if its indexing I guess pinging your site will help a lot.

just make a content first, since if you get index then you don't have enough content google will de index you. so let the content be the first follow by book marking and other link building stuff

As per SEO you must work in all channels.

I think dofollow web sites is better for submitting.

Sometimes, I wonder where some of you get your information, you haven't needed to submit to search engines for a long time (at least not the major ones), and by "submit to do-follow sites" I assume you mean directories, since you don't "submit" for REAL links, this is also a waste of time....
