What will happen if my site is placed in Sandbox? And what will I do to escape from that or how long will my site be back in search engine?

Nothing at all because the so-called "sandbox" does NOT exist.

Thanks.

Simple, Your site simply hasn't built up the "trust" and "authority" it needs to be displayed to Google's customers.

ALL new sites or pages appear high in the SERPs when they are first indexed, they than drop back to their natural position until Google has built a mathmatical picture (ranking weight) of where they should be.
The analysis of all the factors takes time, hence the delay.

The term "sandbox" should be replaced with "quarantine period" during which pages are examined to see if they are fit and healthy enough to take their natural place in the index.

Sandbox is a concept and word coined by a major SEO blog.
Many top seo's believe such a concept exists but may be with a different name.

The effect says that a new site may be put in a sandbox and prevented from appearing in search results up to a time it gets enough backlinks and traffic.

Well said Chris...

I had a new site that recently was on the first page for a good three days - then G lowered the boom. A year ago I would've started crying like a little girl - but when I coudln't find it the other day - I didn't worry about it. This happens to new websites. Maturity and trust is big w/ G. G doesn't trust my website - and that's cool. This is the natural process.

Not so, the "sandbox" term was coined by one particular person who suddenly found that the usual "technique" of launching a spammy web entitie (diet pills and viagra was his speciality at the time) with hundreds of thousands of back links (paid) already existing from a large network mainly with a company that had several hundred established websites
No names mentioned though, just suffice to say that it isn't the "well established blog" you are thinking of, maybe he has decide to take the credit though.

Nothing to do with traffic. How can Google know about any traffic if the site isn't getting any refferals from Google??

If google had a sandbox wouldn't you think it would put virus and malicious sites into it rather than just giving you a warning that the site may harm your computer? Just a thought.

That makes perfect sense. Additionally, I can easily see Google collecting data with respect to how your site is perceived by humans which would be a function of many things such as "bounce rate" among other things. The fact that a website would go through a "testing" phase is very believable. If the numbers do not support the retention of a high SERP then placement occurs according to the "numbers". Thanks for explaining that chrishirst...

Instead of a "sandbox", the exact opposite sounds to be true. A piece of art is put on the floor. If it doesn't show well, it is taken down and put in another room.

hmmm, what would bounce rate have to do with anything and how or why would they know and penalise it, if your site gives the answer to whatever someone was searching for and therefore had a high bounce rate should search engines penalise you? I should imagine xe.com and similar exchange rate sites have extremely high bounce rates.

Well, that would really be something to think about...
But it's too far fetched. I don't think google would do such a thing to harm its own reputation. Nice idea though..

sandbox is just a term it didn't exist I guess ... it only refers to sites that are being penalize, maybe cleaning up your act would get you out of it.
