It's being at the "sharp end" and testing new 'theories'. It does of course presuppose that the tester does actually know how to test and analyse accurately and correctly, rather simply looking for "evidence" to support the theory.

It does of path assume that the tester does really identify how to test and analyze precisely and properly, quite merely looking for evidence to maintain the theory.
