Whatever it is called, is it a shorter period now since Google's Caffeine, or is it too soon to tell?

If the "new improved Google" lives up to the MC propaganda, it should be.
Google have done many such rollouts over the years.
Nov 2003 - Jan 2004 (Florida) was the infrastructure change that saw the end of the "Google Dance" and the start of the continuously (everflux) changing SERPs depending on which DC you are supplying YOUR results. It also brought one of the major changes on taking "low guality" links out of the ranking equation.
The start of the "sandbox effect" which was tweaked by minor "updates"
The "Big Daddy" update (Dec 2005-Mar 2006) was a infrastructure change and another sea change on how links where evaluated.
Both of these had the effects that Google had suggested was where the development teams were aiming for, as with all such changes there are "unexpected" effects and results.
The "Caffeine" test DC appeared to bear out the anticipated improvements so there is no reason to suggest otherwise.
If the "twittering class" of "experts" ever managed to get their heads out of their backsides and actually looked around at real results instead of their contrived "tests" they would have noticed that the "sandbox theory" does not hold water any more (not that it ever really did)
