What do you think is better SEO or social media? Is SEO needed now that Social Media has arrived?

SEO and "Social Media" are two totally different things.

Spam link dropping at SM sites is NOT SEO!!!

SEO and SOCIAL MEDIA are two interlinked terms. Both needs each other to grow.
SEO is based on relevant content on the site. And the best way to add content is a blog and comunity discussions and comments. These are nothing but an IPO concept called social media.
Similarly Social Media needs SEO to grow. A Blog will not be popular if it does not get high ranking on the search engine which is only possible through SEO.

SEO will always be needed.

Social Media is just another way to reach customers. Depending how you use Social Media, It can be nothing more than having an email address of a customer that signed up for your newsletter or updates to the website.

Social Media -> Traffic

Social Media affects SEO in VERY minor ways... and usually indirectly like someone finding you through social media and deciding to link to your site from theirs.

SEO does very little for social media unless you are relying on a blog as your primary social media medium... and then making your blog rank would be important.

But blogging is not required to participate in social media... Twitter, Facebook, and other forms of social media/networking don't require SEO to be successful.

Well SEO use to drive more traffic to your site and to boost your ranking in Google so it will be always needed. Social media is a another tool or strategy you can use to drive more traffic to your site.. Using popular social media like Youtube etc will truly generate massive amount of traffic to your site.. Imagine the popularity of this sites.. So I think they are both important and a must use if you want your site be more popular and have a high reputation.

If you want more organic traffic, you do SEO. But, if you want referral traffic, you do SMO.

no doubt that SEO is always best but you need to keep patience in SEO and social madia is the fastest way to get traffic but wouldn't be such targeted like search engines
