Twitter is a good social platform to drive traffic, but it depends on how well you do it, create an account, add your link, write something interesting in the bio part, it plays a good role in attracting followers, show your strength over there , what you are good at. you know people prefer to follow somebody who could provide them with some useful information. tweet something useful, help others by solving their queries, pass on useful information, share your expertise with them. follow people who would be interested in your line of business ,rather than vaguely following any one and everyone. Do not try promote your site too much, though you can do that once in a while. if you are continuously going to keep on posting your site link in the tweets, naturally you will lose followers. It's all about building a reputation, once people find your tweets useful and informative, you'll definitely see the difference. But if you see in a pure seo sense , like if you are looking for backlinks, you don't get any backlinks from social networks like twitter, facebook etc, though they play a crucial role in SERPs, especially after the launch of Google Caffeine.
