I have submitted a site to google 3 weeks back but i still cant seem to pick it up on a search. the url is

Submit it to sites like Digg It (this got my site indexed quick)

Submit it to the Google directory

Get Google Webmaster tools and submit it there, www.google.com/webmasters/

you could try a sites like PRLog.com - this should get you some traffic going to it - possibly gain G's attention

but backlinks are probably the best to get a page or site indexed...
