Hi Friends,

This just must be a common, but most likely crappy, suggestion from newbies like me:

So the question is basically, why is this a stupid recipe for disaster:

STEP 1)

Make a website that target only one keyword through the URL so that google considered it as the name of the company/organization/whatever and post it top for that one keyword.

STEP 2)

Alternative A) Make the site do what you want to do with your other site you are trying to rank. (two sites performing the same utility)

Alternative B) Add a lot of new content to the new site that targets one keyword and have a link to your own. (promotion of your main site)

I figured that, but why? These sites do very often rank top.

For one of my targeted keywords the top site has only 17 links according to backlinkwatch.com and they have gotten all my links that I know of (I have still not started my campaign to build links)

Why would not Alternative A work?

Step 1 ASSUMES that URL keywords are of inestimable value for "ranking"

I have no idea what "alternative A" actually is?
It sounds like the usual crap idea of "have a blog and link to your main site"
Which of course so does "Alternative B"

Hell! If you can't promote one site HOW are you going to promote TWO??

Forget about what these crappy "backlink tools" suggest they are nowhere near accurate

I'm confused, do we really need to lessen the numbers of keywords for our website? or the many it should be?

There is no single thing that says that you need to There is no single thing that says that you need to There is no single thing that says that you need to There is no single thing that says that you need to target one keyword for one URL only, you can target multiple keywords for 1 URL but you cannot target multiple URL for one keyword.

I think google sees it just manipulating the links or not organic way of link building. Varied anchor text (kws) is a good way of link building not just one kw.

Then why do people often refer to SEO campaign as a disaster when the site does not even rank for its own name?

I just typed in the first 10 searches that popped up in my head and for all of the 10 searches, a clear majority of the results' URLs on the first page contained the search term.

Recheck it after a week and see changes, maybe Google is just manipulating it or change because of the Google dance.
