Hello folks,

I have been working on my site. I find it easier to cut the navigation up and add images to the links. It also looks better. But would it be better for my SEO if I used normal text links with a rollover using CSS? I would like to know if anyone among you has tried this. I also would appreciate you if you guided me to a site that might have listed solutions to these questions. I welcome any suggestions or opinions that you have. Waiting to read your replies.

Search engines cannot read images, the answer is obvious - use REAL TEXT.

Search engines read the text that you name your image do they not?

Nope they read the alt attribute text of linked images.

The alt attribute may take precedence, but if there is no text there they read the name you have given the picture, believe me, I have posted over 11,000 photos over the last 3 years without alt attribute and every google search I do I see some of my pics on first page for what I named them.

For image search certainly, but NOT for navigation.

I would usually stick with text links for SEO purposes. If these image links are generic navigation links it is fine to use images. Any targeted keyword links should definitely be text links though.

As far as I know, the alt text of image links is the equivalent to the anchor text of text links in SEO terms. So, this means when a link to a page is part of an image you should add relevant alt text to the alt attribute (looks like this alt=”keywords here”).

Text is better, make the text or keyword hyperlink to your site that help in targeting your keyword.

Google gives preference to the Anchor text link than the image links.

And from the point SEO point of view Anchor targets more key words than img tag.

Search engines never reads images, it only read the alt text on image. So text link is always better.

Yes, i agree with all Text links are good compare to image links.
