Hey Friends,

I have a website that I am planning to move to a new URL.

I will just clone it and keep in the new place, so it will be pretty much identical initially.

My question is this: will it "hurt" the new page if the old one remains?

Cheers,

Chris

What you have to do is redirect the old pages for the new ones ... when you do this Google reads "Okay, all the power of this website move for this new one"...

You can find how do this searching in google for "Redirect 301" ... i don't exatcly how to do ... and when you searching you will see diferents forms =D

You better make a 301 redirection from your old domain to your new one so that your new domain will be benefit by your old one.

One solution may be to do a 302 redirect from the old url, so preexisting links don't go to waste but you don't end up with duplicate content.

He is right to avoid duplication in Search Engines.
