I've tried all the SEO techniques.. and according to my expierence the best way to generate traffic for a website is paying ads on Facebook and google AdWords.

I agree with Chris. SEO is meant to help place you in SERPS, it CAN bring you traffic but probably not the type of traffic that will make you good sales! I often tell people to combine both things, SEO and paid advertising.

We have to implement all SEO strategies like Link building, Directory submission, Blog posting and Forum Commenting.we should also apply on page optimization and of page optimization techniques frequently to make it SEO friendly.

There are lot of ways to genreate traffic. Like starting with blog comments, forum posting, directory, classified, article, press release, social bookmarking submission. Writing content in blogs, hubpages, squidoo. Then blog direcotry and aricle submission. Do video submission. Participate in networking and communiy site and build good network. Do link exchange with relevant site. Do all the above task with quality and you will get lot of traffic
