I recently had an SEO Job done to my site, I also then followed up by comparing what changes etc they did.

Only to find a few Meta tags changed and in my footer were my keywords, they said I could only have about 7 keywords in total, I paid about £100+ is this normal?

Or did I get scammmed?

If that was the only seo they done and there was no off site seo it does seem a tad expensive, I should imagine there are other changes they have made on site that you haven't noticed.

How are you measuring "success" that results from the work they did?

Well, to be honest for £100 you have probably got exactly what you paid for.

Pay peanuts ... and you get monkeys working for you.

For any SEO who knows what they are doing, £100 wouldn't get your site a lookover.

Provided you find someone who knows what they are doing.

What you can afford, HOWEVER if it's the site in your signature, you'll need to have a couple of zeros added on to your budget to start with.

Bit of competition for "earn money online" on google etc, just looking at the site I would suggest starting again, ie buy a domain and build up something that is worth optimizing.

Agreed @ThailandForum

I would suggest the same because of "free" hosting providers are not the way to go... and you want to be taken seriously, no?

SOOOOOO

How exactly did you think we could suggest a budget WITHOUT knowing what the site was about.

Hmmm, I should imagine that every click from this thread didn't convert to anything other than people thinking, "thats a crap site", so it's a pretty pointless exercise, I mean I would never bother clicking on a get rich quick link normally, so all it is achieving is alienating people.

No, you are not scammed. Infact you got the work done at a very reasonable rate. But I would suggest you to get some more off site SEO done from a professional.

You only get what you had paid for. you are not scam. But if you are looking for suggestions for how much budget you might need, it''l be hard to guess or estimate an amount needed without knowing what your site is about.

Yes, you are not. I even asked my clients for $250 for on-page site optimization...

If you have the time, do it yourself. Backlinks rule. Forums, Blogs,Directories, 2.0 Platforms, Etc. Nice and easy. On page optimization can be done by a Monkey-Tags, Bolding, no follow linking, Title, no overuse of main keyword, LSI, link to authority in your group.

Try mturk for backlinks...cheap, effective.

Well, i as everyone else has been stating, there is not enough information given to figure out if you have been scammed.

I will say that there are some great SEO services out their that are inexpensive. There are also SEO services that charge extreme amounts for a low quality service.

Dont judge the quality of the SEO service you choose by its price. Try to get testimonials from the service.

I have seen SEO companies charge $20 dollars for great service that has done wonders for the websties.

So, do your research on the company. But don't let a high or low price scare you away.

If they are that great - they should bump up the price a bit...

What did you plan to achieve through SEO for this website? Was it achieved? If it is no, then it was a useless exercise for your site and cost you money too. If you paid by looking for an easy and useless fix, then you got a true value for your money.
