Hey guys,
I just started working for an SEO company as a sales person without knowing too much about Search Engine Optimization, and am quickly being brought up to speed. The company I work with has just introduced a new package, and I'm trying to get some feedback about the cost to see what some of the more common concerns are for me to deal with on the phone, and my girlfriend suggested this forum would be a good place to ask.
The package is:
- A five page bespoke website.
- A generic domain name
- Email account set-up
- Fully optimized website for five different keywords/key phrases.
- External link building
- A money-back guarantee that if we don't get them on the first page of results for at least one of the keywords within six months, we refund all the money paid to us, and they get to keep the site.
The whole thing is £599, with an additional £45 per month for the continued link building, which is also refunded if it doesn't succeed.
But anyway, if you could tell me what you think about it, good and bad, I'd very much appreciate it, as it'll prepare me for any concerns I'll face from potential customers.
Thanks, Liam.

get to 1st page in 6 months with just that kind of amount? plus a refund if in case it fails to be in the 1st page? There's always no assurance on how long it takes to be in the 1st page and yet you only get that kind of amount and a refund if in case it fails. Wait, I this package is provided by your company or by the customer? cause if its in your company, then you'll surely be bankrupt in no time.

The total package looks interesting but are you really sure that from that amount your effort, time and expenses of your services that your going to render will increase its income in return. I'm much concern for the payment and its monthly basis i don't think it will work that much, specially when your competing a high class sites which already dominating the rank. Better to asses again your rate a little bit higher.

Sounds a bargain to me, I would like a porn site, my keywords are "sex" "sexy" "sexy girls" "porn", hmmm, the 5th one has me a bit perplexed, need to put some more thought into the 5th keyword I want, anyway, I want to see my keyword/s on first page on the 22nd week of going live.

Actually the majority of stuff is pretty easy to get onto first page so you will be quids in so to speak, but you get a run of really hard stuff you either have to turn it down or risk losing a lot.

The type of customers you'll probably get won't have much of a clue about building web sites professionally, so you'd be able to give them any old blarny and they'd most likely buy it.
Here's some questions you might get asked:
A five page bespoke website
What if I want to add more pages, is that included in the monthly fee?
I have my text copy which amounts to over 50,000 words, is that OK on 5 pages?
Can I edit pages myself?
Can I have a blog?
Can I sell my products? I only have 3 items so they would fit on one page
Does that include visitor stats?
Do I get FTP access to upload files?
How much is hosting?
Can I host the site with my own web host?
A generic domain name
I already have a domain name, can I use that?
What do you mean by "generic"?
If you provide me with a domain name how much are renewals? I can get a .co.uk for less than £5/year
Email account set-up
Does that include webmail?
How many email aliases can I use?
Do you provide SMTP?
Fully optimized website for five different keywords/key phrases
Do you include web copywriting services with the price?
Who choose the "keywords" me or you?
Do you pay special attention to the meta keywords tag?
External link building
Can you guarantee my site won't appear on link farms, doorway pages?
Can you guarantee that my site link won't be spammed on forums and blog comments?
A money-back guarantee that if we don't get them on the first page of results for at least one of the keywords within six months, we refund all the money paid to us, and they get to keep the site.
First page of what? Bing? Yahoo? What about localised/personalised searches?
Good luck Not the sort of job I'd like doing but a job is a job!

I think you are taking a huge risk , popular keywords may need much more than 6 months to get to the first page .I would charge more to make the risk/reward ratio more compelling .
Good luck .

ANY company who will guarantee page 1 or #1 rankings for even ONE keyword phrase of my choosing in just 6 months is:
1) Absolutely full of crap and
2) Going to be refunding me my money at the end of 6 months.
Making general claims with packages like this is a bunch of "hot air" that won't even get a small hot air balloon off the ground. You cannot guarantee SEO rankings even for one keyword without first knowing what you're customers want to rank. Guarantees like this are clear signs of an inexperienced SEO company.
You'd be better off positioning your product as a customized SEO package, depending on the client's needs, with absoltely no guarantee of rankings.

^It only comes down to the words wanted, you got a restaurant in New York and want "New York Restaurant" on first page aint no one going to do that for that price, "New York Pizza Restaurant" maybe a maybe, add in another word to the last one and then you got an easier one thats quite doable, only comes down to the words they want.

Hi Iam so appreciative of you for creating this post. I recently started a site and have been very unsure as to how to begin even thinking about SEO and your post seems to make it a little easier to understand.
