As far as I know search engines don't care what your website ends with. Some are less popular due to the stigma applied to them. Like a lot of .info and .biz sites were pretty shady e-book-seller-type sites and affiliate pages.
.com .net .co.uk, etc are easier to remember. If you're based in the UK I would recommend using a .co.uk or .uk.com (if you want to fork out for the cost), users seeing it in their SERPs will see you as a more local company meaning they're more likely to click.
