Of course we use title tags on every page but ......

Is it worth the effort to add title tags whenever possible (links, images, etc)?

How about both title tag and alt attribute if possible? Is one better than the other?

Alt means Alternative Text, which you should always be using on your images to describe what the image is for users who can't see images, (e.g screen readers for the blind).

Title attributes are very helpful in that they can further clarify pieces of information. You should use them on acronyms and abbreviations so that your user knows just what the hell you're talking about. On links they can tell a user where they're about to go so you can have a shorter link name and expand up on that in the title text.

If you see what I mean... I've just woken up so I might not be making much sense here.

as I've learn to my mentor before, Title tags is really has a good effect in pushing your site on top of search engine. For me there is no other good than it.

Well if all you care about is rankings then for you there wouldn't be. Title and alt attributes improve usability and accessibility, which is why they're important.

it can help but not necessary to place it some tags, if you think you need to boost some keyword to rank better put some but if you think its too much and it would look stuffing then don't.

TITLE tag and ALT attributes are important. TITLE tag text is the first information about your website that the user sees. Title tag of the page should be unique each and every page of website should have different title. If we use any images or picture we will have to use alt attributes. It is specified using the HTML alt tag.

Both are equally important for website....
Title tag is used by search engine bots and crawlers, to know what is site all about, as well as for users how are searching in your niche, an attractive and catchy line can bring tons of traffic to your site through SE.
Whereas, in ALT tag is used because, bots and crawlers can not read images hence, you need to tag them and direct them that image you used in website is ... all about .... ALT tag is used for image optimization. Since this days Image search are gaining popularity therefore it can be a strong medium to get traffic to your site.

There seems to be some confusion here. While it isn't immediately clear, the OP is talking about the title attribute (title="") not the title tag (<title></title>).

I just thought I'd clarify.

It's not going to hurt, unless you try and abuse it by KW stuffing.

It's always worth using alt atributes for your images, as it gives people a chance to find your site through image searches.

If it's helpful to the user, use them. If it's not needed, I wouldn't bother so much.

TITLE and ALT features both are very important.

TITLE tag text is used for title of the website and its length is 67 to 70 char. It should be different for each and every page.

ALT tag should be used for image.

In my opinion, they are (kind-of) useful but are not of primary importance for ranking in SERPs. In my research, images are ranked based on the wrapping content rather than the ALT tags. So, ALT and TITLE tags not necessary (in-general) but, it helps to have them in place.

Links, images, etc. don't have title tags. They have title attributes... i.e. title="some text".

The <title> "element" within the <head> element of an HTML document has two "tags". <title> is the opening/starting title "tag" and </title> is the closing/ending title "tag". A tag is the syntax used to open or close an HTML element.

That being said, there is absolutely nothing wrong with having both a title attribute and alt attribute. They have different purposes. The title attribute should contain the hover text you want to appear when a user hovers over a link, image, etc. The alt attribute is an accessibility attribute and should describe the image that is being linked to. If an image link is rendered, the alt attribute should describe the image... NOT the page being linked to.

The title is the most important tag on your page for both your visitors and for the Search Engines, and you should pay particular attention to this tag when considering placements and ways to lure in visitors

In terms of SEO, only ALTs are important for images. Titles are just to improve accessibility.
