The Internet has been filled with rumors stating that SEO or search engine optimization is dead. Web owners and other online business entrepreneurs get apprehensive and anxious when they read titles that emphasize that “SEO is dead”. So is all this hoopla true? Well, for starters, stop spending sleepless nights over such baseless rumors.
I have not heard this ..... I think a lot of businesses are putting this on the back burner instead focusing on Social Media (huge mistake in my opinion, rank first page then social media).
SEO can never dead till the time Google will remove off all its parameters of ranking a website. Till the time, Google enlists certain parameters, people will keep working on them. Well these days, SMO is more popular than SEO, It helps driving hell lot of referral traffic.
SEO is not dead and won't be dead anytime soon. It just continues to evolve. If you look at what worked 10 years ago, it's much different than what works today. The same will be true 10 years from now...but that doesn't mean that SEO is going away, just changing to keep up with the times.

Total BS. As long as their are search engines... and search engines have algorithms for ranking pages... there will ALWAYS be SEOs trying to reverse engineer parts of those algorithms and tweaking site strategies to get them to rank well.
SEO is just like a internet marketing and its a backbone of your online business . SEO is never gone to died but it techniques will change periodically.
I don't think that SEO will be dead in the near future. In fact, the industry of search engine optimization is becoming very in-demand for web masters these days, thus, making it a very promising field.
