There is the following situation with one of our clients.

They want an English website which will target the US market.
They want to add a Spanish version to target US and South American Spanish speakers. As they are starting from scratch, what would be the right option?

1. Build a single site in 2 languages.
2. Build one site in English and another in Spanish
3. Build one site in English, one .com site in Spanish and one local Spanish (maybe with Argentina or Columbia tld as they have the largest populations)

My advise do not combine both sites on single. instead redirect to the website to specific language. If you combine both on single website then you may not track the activities exactly and visitors and your pr will split to different pages of the site..

Build separate sites for each language. English site with .com and Spanish site with .es. This will be helpful.

Thank you for the replies. I agree with the solution. The only exception is that they already had a domain for Columbia, so we are using that for Spanish. The content will be provided by someone local to the region as well.

My advice is to build 2 sites.
This is the most seo friendly variant.
