There is probably some extra efforts needed for you to be back on the 1st placed again. Getting back to your previous position is going to be hard knowing the fact the you get your site de-ranked.
If you've been banned, you won't rank again no matter how much effort you put in. You should first check if your website is still indexed in Google (using the site operator).
There was actually a great post on Search Engine Land that tells us Google is now sending out messages to webmasters who are being penalized. Do you have a Google Webmaster account? You might want to go check it out.
However the chances are if your website is deindexed you did something wrong. Guaranteed. Googles algorithim just doesn't deindex websites. Someone probably reported you for spam and then a member of the spam team checked out your website to confirm it.
Well, you won't be doing that again now will you?
Chances are you know what you did wrong and if you want back in Googles index, fix it, submit a reinclusion request.

If your page hasn't been removed from the search engine and only "de-ranked" , just try building more back links to that page,
After a while, you'll see some improvements on your SERP.

Try to fix your website title for ranking teh exact keyword on it.
also fix the comment that people who search that keyword look on google.
Adding a few time the keyword on that comment you will have a better chance to go back.
Also keep building backlinks for it and check if your competitor is building backlinks for the exact keyword so you will have to keep building backlinks for yours so you keep on the competition.

Berry, why was your site deranked? If you have just been deranked and not blacklisted then it's just a matter of fixing whatever Google didnt like on your site and waiting to be re-indexed again.
