Wrong, wrong, WRONG!!
It is based on traffic from the Alexa toolbar users (<10% of Internet users) and their surfing habits.

Actually, this isn't quite the case any longer Chris.. A couple years ago Alexa added more data sources to their calculations, including pixel counting on web sites (adding an Alexa pixel to your site).. The data still tends to be mostly crap for anything above about 20,000, but the closer you get to number 1 the more accurate the data gets..
All that said, it's still crap..

According to alexa Alexa rank is based on number of visitors to a website and the website with less alexa rank means he have more traffic.
But Alexa rank is based on statistics from users of alexa toolbar so alexa is highly inaccurate.

Alexa rank means you can bamboozle your boss with some pretty meaningless statistics.

Alexa Rank doesn't mean a thing to me. @Orlando Focus on SERP and you'll be fine,

It's a traffic ranking. The lower the better. Your ranking means that you are ranked 772,242 for most traffic of websites on the internet. Only those with the Alexa toolbar send traffic data back, so it's not very accurate in most cases. An alexa under 100,000 is considered descent, but can easily be skewed by the demographics of your users. Websites with alot of experienced web users and webmasters are more likely to have the toolbar installed.
For example, I have one site that gets 1300 uniques / day and is not webmaster oriented. It's Alexa is ranking is 441k
Another website I have gets 200 uniques a day, and is webmaster related. It's Alexa is 69k.
Note that I do not use the Alexa toolbar.
In most cases, simply installing the toolbar yourself and visiting your site in the course of your daily routine will get you around the 100k mark.

Only toolbar PR (SGB) is the useless one, REAL PR, the one you can't see and only Google knows the value of, is what is used by Google as (small) part of their ranking algorithm.

I edited my post because I have not read your last sentence.
True, but what might happen to other websites which gets a lot of traffic, but the majority of that traffic doesn't use the alexa toolbar?

Nothing at all!
The Alexa rank means nothing at all to anybody with any common sense!
Look at what does matter, and that is YOUR SITE LOGS to see what traffic you do get AND more importantly where the CONVERTING visitors come from.
Comparing traffic guesstimates between websites/pages in completely different marketplaces is completely futile.

Alexa is a traffic values, in general, Alexa number is higher , the traffic is less.
so Alexa#8427 is much better than the Alexa#55268.

Alexa ranking is a funny little motor. Fluctuations in the ranking can be quite spectacular with Alexa gets a handle on your site. They changed their algorithm, presumably, to better reflect and anticipate the traffic. This means you no longer depend simply guestimating users Alexa Toolbar classification based on that visit your site.
