Just say you have 5 domain names with 1 website set up currently, for the other 4 domain names, if you just make the home page layout identical on the other 4 and all the nav links etc link to the original website links. Would this be considered naughty by google.
I am pretty sure I read it was last year but just want to make sure.

I was thinking making the 4 websites home pages just have different content so I can get it ranking in the search results.
Thoughts and advice.

if those have some content its really a bad move, one domain is enough if you want you can create blogs to promote your site using reviews, articles, press releases etc...

If you are trying to make the other sites for the sole purpose of linking to your main page it is sort of along the lines of a link farm. You could get a few free ones from blogspot-blogger, wordpress, etc. Post a few things and link to your main site. Then, they are different sites and different ips. It is a lot of work for the little it will help.

Matt Cutts states that it's okay if you want to consolidate your brand. However if you're doing it to pass pagerank then the spam team will see that if you get reported.
