Anyone use submitnet?

Hello everybody.

I'm new to the seo game, and my web host (iPage) provides an add on service that submits my sites to all the major search engines. (extra $.50 a month or so)

I just got a report back about the submissions. My site was successfully submitted to Google, Yahoo, Canadaone, MSN, Nerdworld, and Walhello. Bing was not mentioned, and the following submissions were unsucessful-Aesop, Alexa, and Splatsearcch. I think this is because I didn't use Meta tags. But I heard Meta tags were useless nowadays.

Are these obscure search engines worth worrying about? Won't they come across it eventually anyway?

Also, I can upgrade for about a dollar a month, and they will send links for me to 30 or so directorys. Does this seem worth messing with?

My sites have original quality content, and I expect to get some backlinks from people who are just interested in the information. My sites are exact keyword match domains, in relatively low competition niches.

Thanks in advance,
Michael

Submitnet CANCELED!

Thanks for the input everybody.

I don't know if this is coincidence or not, but after using submitnet, my site dropped 5 pages in Google! And it was formerly a parking page!

I'll work on some SEO and hopefully it will bounce back.

Manually submission is better than auto submission. I don't prefer any tool or software for submission.

Submitnet is an outstanding website that currently offers free tools for website checking and multiple programs for website optimization and submission.
Another website checking tools. Read its full review here and judge by yourself.

Christ got that right on the money. You don't need to submit to search engines. What I would recommend doing is just pinging your website. That's all you ever have to do.

Manual submissions are good to practice and can bring you better results, don't use any automated softwares for website submissions.

Hello -My host (Powweb) is also offering SubmitNet for $10 a year. What I understand from the posts above is that using these sites may actually lower my page ranking??? I used pay-per-click @ google adwords which was very costly & provided unqualified clicks from tire-kickers. Got some traffic but didn't seem to be money well spent at all.
Recently I have just submitted some products to google manually -Is this the way to go? Should I be submitting to Yahoo, MSN, Shopzilla, etc?
I could probably pay my daughter to do submissions & keep the money in the family.
Any help or advise would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Dan - DXHydro.com

Sounds like you were targeting the wrong words or using broad match too liberally.
