Did you know that google is a search engine? Their mission is to give people the most relevant website when they ask for something. If you make a good website, which does what it sets out to do, google will do ALL the "seo" work for you, by optimizing their search engine to find your site when the right people ask for it.
Apparently they get paid 30 billion dollars a year because of how well they optimize their search engine. So don't worry. Just make your website and leave the search engine issues to Google - they are much more qualified than anyone else here or anywhere, to make sure you get the right clients. Even if that means none at all (ie if you are making stuff purely to get traffic, rather than making a site for a reason, an underlying purpose, which you serve well and deserve traffic for).
It's amazing that despite how obvious this is, at least 400 zillion people actually write entire "books" (ebooks), a jillion forum posts and 487 entire universes full of 'content' (with ads, and a lot of those annoying underlined ones from organisations which promote latvian arranged marriages to rich londoners and stuff) saying THE COMPLETE OPPOSITE. However if you want evidence of what I say, look up these two words on any major search engine...
