I have been submitting my website and new pages as well as blogs to social book-marking sites. However, I have only about 20 of them and keep submitting over and over.

It is good for new sites but old sites are not very effective.

What is the best effective ways about building links for websites?

Any advice is appreciated.

I would like to suggest you. Use only high quality sites for promotion it is good way and always work for all sites.

Article submission can be effective, for new or old sites. Similarly with directories if done correctly. Social bookmarking, I believe, will help you get indexed but not provide much benefit beyond that.

PLUS need to keep posting everywhere you get a chance.

Directory submission and social bookmark submission is best way for effective link building......
