When doing SEO it is very important to understand search engine ranking factors and what causes websites to rank highly for search queries. What is interesting is the difference between correlation and causation.

What I mean by this is that usually a website that has been around for a long time ranks higher than a brand new website, however is this caused by the long life of the website or is it just a correlation of data meaning that usually older sites rank better because they have had longer to optimise, build links and generate content.

SEOmoz runs surveys every two years asking SEO experts their experiences with ranking factors. Here are the results which will help SEO experts and professionals to understand how to best spend their time optimizing:

I agree with you. There are lot of high PR websites that are not quality in appearance. You need to check out the over all appearance of the website in order to classify if it is a quality site or not.

The content of the site is a big factor in judging a website.

SEO depends upon following factors:
Keyword density should not be high
Anchor text should be there in content
Copy Content should not be there
