When you sign up to a site like this one or other forums, they let you place a link to your website on your member profile. Is this link hold any value to google and SEO?

Yes,I am also think forum is just a place where you share your knowledge or products and services but in a proper manner.many people are trying to do spam over forums so that now moderators have become strict.So don't think about forum profile links.There is already a place for backlinks and that is signature.

well it all depends on where do you put the links, if you just create a profile page ONLY to place your link then that's a grey hat technique and google often frowns on that, but if you create a profile AND participate in the forum then its not that bad

forums are great way of getting customer response and there goes very healthy discussion about skills and all members participate to this discussion and in result information sharing is much simple and learning new methods and techniques.

Most of profile Links are Nofollow Links but some Forum offers Dofolow Links in your Profile links.

now we can asked it is beneficial for seo pints of view or not but I think when any one goes to your profile they just click your links and create a traffic at your website then automatically your website get up position in search engine.

So we can say that it is good for seo point of view in Google

I think yes but not that big, I see some back links whenever I posted my site but there is no anchor text to target your keyword.

Maybe the page isn't even visible to guests, or search engine crawlers..

Yes, signatures or links allowed in forums are useful for your site from seo point of view.

Of course forum profile links are beneficial for SEO and Google, they are beneficial especially if the forum is relevant to your website that you have posted in the signature line. Pretty much any link that you get will be beneficial, unless it is from a link farm or something along those lines.

Last year I watch Matt cutts interview on you tube and he said 1000 signature links help to push page rank 0 to 1. this is not the real stats he told it roughly.I think same thing happens in forum profiles.But my suggestion is build links its not harm to your site.

links are links as long as they pass linkjuice to your site,having said that, I think forums are places to share your knowledge and learn from others rather than simply looking for backlinks.
