So this is a question for the veterans out there. There has been a lot of opinions about blog commenting for SEO. Some communities say it is important for ranking and others claim it is useless and does not contribute to rankings or PR. Does anyone have any real experience with this over a long period of time. I have a hard time believing that if I score a blog comment on a PR6 site with no other comments, that it is useless. It is a back link from a high PR site. Although it is in the comment section I don't see the difference between that and say a back link from a directory or a footer link or a sidebar link from a website. I have seen some movement from my keywords from blog commenting. However I cannot say for sure it is from that. Because I have a variety of things going such as articles, blogging, directory submission etc etc. I just want to focus a majority of my efforts in the right direction, that will give me the best return for my time. Has anyone seen results from only blog commenting? Thanks in advance

I have only promoted one of my blogs through commenting on others. This site gets indexed in 5-10 mins usually at the top or first page for keywords with not heaps of competition.

blog "commenting" is NOT optimising, by commenting on topics you are PROMOTING yourself as interested or knowledgeable on the subject.

The homepage of the website can be PR 6, but the page with-in the website doesn't have to have any PR.

It's simple. Write original content that will be useful to readers and publish it to your website. Don't use any strange words, say it like you're talking about what you want to tell to everyone.

I think, I've seen this post in other forum, some didn't do this because of no follow issues... Its hard to find do follow blogs right now.

Optimization is good for getting good ranks in search engines. But in my opinion, I would concentrate on getting more traffic via guest blogging. I wouldn't concentrate on PR too much.

I am doing blog commenting for a couple of months now, and I find it really effective in acquiring inbound links for my site.

Blog commenting is good for seo, but not if done in excess amount, it rather helps in getting quick rankings in google.

Blog commenting is very useful in SEO. But you need to choose blogs with higher Page rank and traffic, it will defiantly boost up your ranking.

It'll definitely be hard to find a do follow blog since there really is no "dofollow" at all. You really can't command a web crawler to crawl a link or something.

Yes blog commenting gives good power to the keyword.
Take the link on dofollow related pages which has pr.
It will definitely gives you the good effect.

Blog commenting are mean for traffic driving; not for link building.

It depends on your topic because search volume depends on what people recently search.eg 'A' want to promote a site which talking about web design and 'B' want to promote a site talking about human diseases and virus so which is easy ? all the things we doing for a site is depend on the topic we talking about

PR is a PAGE Rank, and if you're going mentioning site, should there be "SR" as well as Site Rank..Thus blog commenting should boost traffic to our site a bit. All these efforts are none trash, but matters that is worth or not.

I don't prefer blog commenting. You should give 5% weightage to this technique. Bing doesn't give any link juice to blog comment and considers it as spam.
