HI guys

We have the facility of tag cloud in blog. I was thinking that if i apply tag cloud in my web page then it will be more beneficial..it will work like internal linking...
What you people think about applying tag cloud in website?

I use the tag cloud, but I put noindex attribute on them.. I use them only for users.

If you don't get enough contents and pages on your website(espcially for new websites), tag cloud can help you get more indexed pages on serch engines. If you get enough contents, tag cloud is also helpful to visitors, they can know your website's hot topics and find related contents more easily.

Tag Clouds are great features for your users - they allow quick access to the content they want. In SEO terms, they give robots a great idea about the content of your site with some good semantic internal linking.

I think they are kind of pointless. If you look at any major blogs, none of them use tag clouds. Most people use a search box. You could have tags under your post though if you really want them. Otherwise I think it just become sidebar clutter.

my perception on tag clouds, it just help to increase the blog pages and I don't see any good points in how would that benefit in doing SEO, it surely help the users but not sure in optimizing for SE.

I think that this have a great benefit for users, but I am not sure how much search engine benefit they will deliver. I guess that they must help with indexing deeper pages to some degree

Out of this entire thread, this has to be the best advice I have seen. Tag clouds are not user-friendly, since most of them are typically overstuffed so as not to be truly legible to the average visitor.

Organize your links for the user first by having a "recent topics" area or the like if you must, menus, site map links, anything but a cloud.

There's a reason that they fell out of fashion. There's also a reason why a UX person has better job prospects than a SEO "expert" any day of the week.

UX > SEO in all cases, because in all cases when you cover UX you also cover SEO. Period.

Applying tag clouds is small but very effective idea due to this your get to know what type of tag are running currently which helps you for more visitors and increases your traffic and also indexing.

Just do it without thinking much this will defiantely going to work for you.

I think of it as a smart little idea of including some extra amount of keywords into your webpage. Never over do the same as they may be suspected of keyword stuffing.

Maybe if you had three THOUSAND "tags" jammed in it would be "keyword stuffing"

If you have it for user purpose then Tag clouds are really easy for them to find the relevant content, a user time gets reduced searching the desired content.

Possibly if you only have a few pages per tag - otherwise the user gets a huge list of barely differentiated pages.

On a significantly large site they're a menace.
