Hi,
I have a question, I am working on a website that has an old domain name with pg 1, but the domain name does not contain the keyword I'm targeting in it, I have another new domain that has the keyword in it. I'm not sure which one to use.
I read in different places that domain aliasing is not good for seo, true?
should i forward (301 redirect) one to another?
Thanks

Keyword in domain doesn't really make much of a difference.

pg 1?

Neither are "old" domains.

Now existing websites that have built up a "reputation" is a different thing entirely.

I suggest to use the new domain, if you built a good rep on the old domain I think you can do it again...

I think that the best way is to form the relevant domain as a landing page and the old one is to make a basic service.
Seo must be done exactly for relevant pages, this is much more trustful.

Yes, if OP does want to put them together, this is a good way to do that. In deed, I think whether domain contains keywords or not doesn't make any difference, why not make two websites?

Either old domain or keyword in domain doesn't make so much difference. Unless the old domain is well established, then that's a different story.

The old domain is 8 years old and has Google page rank 1.
the new one is completely new.

What do you mean with well establish?
and what is the different story?

Well established means being having been on-line and promoted properly thereby building up a good and solid "reputation"

Just because a name has been registered 'X' years does not mean it is inherently "trust-worthy".
