You don't have to believe it of course, that is your perogative, but given that the last major Google update was aimed specifically at junk pages using regurgitated junk "articles" there may just be an element of truth about it.

10 years ago Meta keywords were useful.
Just because something "worked" does not mean it will continue to.
The ONLY thing that you can guarantee will be a constant success factor is if you build and optimise your pages for the USERS of search tools.
