When you write an article or blog, that is relevent to the subject of the website your trying to enhance backlinks for what is the suggested amount and way to embed links.

Is there a rule ? ..
i.e 500 words = 2 links ..
No more than 2 links per article
Place the link at the bottom ..

etc etc ..

Any advice welcomed !

It totally depends on the article website in question. Word of warning tho, after google's last algorithmic update, the article sites got hammered, absolutely hammered, and lost almost all of their rankings. Article sites are fast being considered junk sites by Google.

Better to post the articles on your own site.

It does not matter in the slightest, because if the "article" has no backlinks it will not have a "value" to pass on.

I rarely put links in articles, only left 1-2 links in author introduction box, and accoding to my own experience, links number in an article is not limited, only if it's skillfully-added and don't influence people's reading.

Depends upon site rules. Some sites give facilities to post three links but some sites gives facilities to post only one links, so check sites FAQ

because their only concerned with PR... and their clients are only concerned with their rank in Google... when really, they should be monitoring traffic and conversions.

Oh, and because they're silly bunnies.

I've never thought of putting the links in the article, I've just always used keywords for the SEO, would you incorporate the links within your text or use them as footnotes or something?

Now Ezine articles have revised their TOS after the new algorithm update. The minimum word count has been raised to 400 from 250 and now the evaluation is more strict that it used to be. They have got hammered and now they want to prove Google their relevancy.

The main reason for the top article sites being getting hammered was because most of their contents were spinned articles. It had a lot of them.
Ezine have got strict only to the newbies members. Old members can still get their article approved in 3-5 days.

I think its better to insert links in author bio, rather than in article body. There a re some sites which already takes links only in author bio and remove all the links from the content. So avoid that.

Will surely be agreeing with you, as this is the most preferred way well going for and preforming article submissions in SEO.....

Well there is no restriction but using max 3 link in 500 words article is better, because to Google it consider as spam free article, but if it contain more then 3 links it will directly got to spam.

You don't have to believe it of course, that is your perogative, but given that the last major Google update was aimed specifically at junk pages using regurgitated junk "articles" there may just be an element of truth about it.

Quote:
I've been following this principle for the past few years
12 - 15 years stuffing keywords in HTML comments "worked".
10 years ago Meta keywords were useful.

Just because something "worked" does not mean it will continue to.

The ONLY thing that you can guarantee will be a constant success factor is if you build and optimise your pages for the USERS of search tools.
