first, in order to get your site or blog index submit your site to search engines...do some promotion in fb and twitter or other social networking sites.

first get some backlinks than add some good articles. it will obviously bring some good traffic from search engine. did you submit your site in google and yahoo? if not than do it now. and use bing too. you can add use blog rss direct to yahoo too. but thats tricky.

What you can do is do proper analysis of your targeted keywords and write appropriate contents according to it.Put your keywords in the title of each page.You can choose different keywords for different pages.Do variations in your keyword format.Provide links on your keywords.Do meta tags optimization but please avoid "keyword" meta tag as it is no more supported by search engines.Go for other meta tags like description.Use Alt tag if you use picture.Submit your site and sitemaps to search engines and if you can do some link building tactics also.
