Hello,

I'm am a newbie when it comes to SEO so I apologize if I use the wrong terms in advance

I want to know if changing my hosting account to another hosting company would affect my page rank or anything.

I've had the site for 1 year now, but it doesn't have much content at all yet.

Thank you

No, it will not affect your SEO.

BTW, if it doesn't have much content, why would you care?

Some people have expressed opinions that your host can affect your SEO:

(1) If you are on a "bad neighborhood" host alongside spammers & scammers, your site might be blacklised too;

(2) An underpowered host might result in poor page-load times, harming your SEO.

But... I haven't found real authority for those statements.

How can you have optimised your pages with very little content?

And by page rank do you mean the SGB??

For the uninitiated, SGB means "Silly green bar", otherwise disparaged as "Foolbar PR".

The toolbar PR (tPR) has historically borne little resemblance to actual PR, which had in turn little effect on serps.

This situation may, of course, be subject to change. To give out meaningless tPR makes Google look silly, especially when they are facing the competition of Bing. A useful tPR will give Google an advantage.

Unless my eyes deceive me, my websites' tPR have been fluctuating far more often than the traditional 3-monthly Google tPR update.

The SGB fluctuates just as the results do because it depends on which datacentre is the surrent one for toolbarqueries.google.com

For point 1, won't matter. The nature of shared hosting makes this a moot point. It's not what is meant by "bad neighborhood" from the SEO world.

For point 2, load time directly impacts user experience, something that Google has indicated is a factor for ranking. Saw it in one of Cutts' interviews he was doing.
