as the title suggests, I am wondering how many backlinks would be considered safe for a 2 day old domain. I simply don't want to get sandboxed by Google but I need to build backlinks.

The "sandbox" does NOT exist.

Build links as slowly or as quickly as you like. You probably can't get links in the quantities that SEs would consider suspicious.

Well..I don't think there's such rule (2 old domain should only have x number links) to comply with. But what ever you try to work to get more backlinks just do it in a increasing order..say 30 today..35 tomorrow..and soo on. I'm not a PRO but I'm giving this idea with a common sense... Christ does it make sense?

This question is worthless bcoz you can't give traffic to your site from only one website and all your link is pasted on it.So use only 3 links on each site and i am agree with john that 30 to 35 links are enough for a day.

Do you really believe that? I have one of my site that has sandboxed because of building too many back-links in a short period of time. That particular site was less than three months old.

Nope.

Just look around you, somebody puts up a new blog on any of the blog providers, announce it to the blogging community site and it could have thousands of links inSECONDS. Matt Cuts makes a blog post and it will have a thousand links before he takes his mouse off the publish button.

Common Sense please sure if a new web site comes out of the starting blocks with fifty thousand links that might make waves and be cause for a closer look, but fifty or a hundred links is just a ripple on the surface.

Just think of the scale of the Internet. The search engines have billions of pages and hundreds, maybe thousands of billions of links indexed. Do you honestly think on that kind of scale a few new pages appearing with a few dozen links is going to be noticed?

You would make lousy "crash and burn" spammers whose tactics are to "bomb" pages in the rankings to capitalise on the temporary boost pages get from being newly indexed.

Wrong, your site went into the perfectly normal period where it is analysed for where it should rank in searches.

All new pages get a temporary "boost" then they drop down until they "earn" there position.
The so-called "sandbox" is simply a period where ALL the factors that make up the ranking position are being analysed

It takes time to calculate everything due to the enormous scale of the index, one new page, over two hundred factors, hundreds billions of interconnected nodes all possibly playing a part and all spread out over thousands of servers in hundreds of clusters located in a hundred plus datacentres.

That is NOT going to happen overnight, so there is a hiatus between initial ranking postion and the REAL position the pages should adopt.
If there was a real "sandbox" or "quarantine" that pages were placed in, it surely would happen from the very first instance of indexing not after a few weeks.

I think its not a good idea that increase backlinks quickly for 2 old domain.
If you build too many links quickly, your site can get banned.

How can you say that? Whats wrong building too many backlinks? How it would affect the sites content in terms of SEO?

It is OK if you want to add links of your website. Just don't blast too many in short time!

Get couple high PR (min PR-3) backlinks for your new domain.
Don"t build profiles for which you will be probably banned.

That makes perfect sense. There is no wrong in building lots of links. After all, a new site should be more hardworking in building links to chase those sustained site.
