Back links have to be a mixture of no follows and dofollows, you can not get all do follows, there is nothing wrong and strange in this.

Clueless as per usual. The nofollow value for the rel attribute has been around for SIX years now. How long is it going to take before you understand what it actually means????

ALL Search Engines actually do "follow" links that are "nofollowed" for the purposes of URI discovery. However links with a rel="nofollow" attribute do NOT pass any values on to the target page.

I believe jackdalson may have a point there but it may have been incomplete, hence it got misunderstood. If you consider Wikipedia a reliable source of information then you have probably read already that Yahoo does "follow" the link even with the "nofollow" value for the rel attribute, BUT they don't use it in ranking the said site in the Search Engines.

I would consider links mostly for promoting your site - so I don't really care about dofollow and nofollow.

If you take some time and do a little reading on Google webmaster blog....you will find that a mixture of links is the best for SEO...

Some sites set the links involved as nofollow to stop too much spamming information! Google will not follow this kind of link, but it may still do good to you, like bring some traffic to your wesbite. Yahoo is adopting a different backlink collecting way from Google. It is hard to say. Yahoo seems more professional in the backlink gathering work!

I think most people post after reading (but not understanding) the thread title, presumably in the belief that there's value in their sig links.

Mind you, Matt Cutts could personally deliver the Google algorithm on tablets of stone to some of the people here and they'd just tell him how to do it.

The sad part is that there is a lot of good information on forums...
Too many folks just guess or pass along myths..
To get links....

Even sadder, links will not make a garbage site into a good one......))

Wrong!!!!

The rel="nofollow" attribute and it's use was a JOINT development by Yahoo!, Google and Microsoft.
