What's the deal with press releases?

Hey there.

I hear a lot about how "press releases" can help to build links to your site. But my question is: how are so many businesses able to benefit from press releases? Aren't press releases kind of like news? So how would a company who was selling cookies or something be able to write a press release?

Thanks.

Press releases are ABSOLUTELY NOTHING AT ALL to do with SEO or link building.

Press releases are for when you have something to announce to the waiting public.

That's what I thought. I mean, that's what I know - I used to work for a press organization and we wrote press releases. That's why i was curious how so many SEO people are managing to use press releases as some linkbuilding tactic...

Just want to correct something here. JUST FOR YOUR INFORMATION..!!

Writing and distributing online press releases should be included in your monthly link building activities for several reasons:

1. They are a great source of publicity for your company
2. They can rank in the search engines, increasing your brand visibility and recognition
3. They provide quality, one way links to your site
4. They can get picked up by various media outlets and be transitioned into offline press releases and news stories

The benefits of distributing a well-written and newsworthy press release are pretty straightforward. But it’s very easy to only look at them from an SEO perspective. This is a very dangerous thing to do! Yes, online press releases can have an effect on your SEO, but in the effort to make a press release SEO friendly, I’ve seen companies make mistakes that render the press releases useless from all perspectives, including SEO.

I'm not doing it for a long time. I find it not that effective on my part.

Just submit the press about your business or site(of course it can be some other themes), if your press is accepted, you get a good one for your SEO.

If you are talking about quality press distribution, you do need write it with you wisdom.

Press Releases may get your traffic and visitors. Not going to do much for SEO though.

I love using press releases with local niches. Even building relationships with writers/editors in the local section as they can write stories for you which give you short term boosts in your traffic
