I have a Q&A site for people to ask general questions about Asia. My aim is for people to ask questions about doing business in Asia or general travel related questions.

However, I had an initial response of a few real answers to questions I put up there but after that the Q&A site is almost dead. It seems like nobody can find the site, or the ones that do don't really care enough about the questions to show to the world that they are an expert on the given topic.

You can google:

1. "Where is the best tourism based place in Philippines to start a biz?"

vs

2. Where is the best tourism based place in Philippines to start a biz?

To know what I'm talking about. Does my SEO really suck that bad? Or am I competing in a field that is too crowded for a small entry like mine to show up?

the SEO is probably ok, more likely it's your promotion and marketing that is crap

You need to ask yourself, how many people are naturally going to Google"

1. "Where is the best tourism based place in Philippines to start a biz?"

vs

2. Where is the best tourism based place in Philippines to start a biz?

Keep working on basic aspects of SEO. Come up with some keywords and short keyword phrases (2 or 3 words) that people might search for to find sites like yours. Then incorporate those keywords into your content.

Keep creating quality backlinks to your site and also update content on a regular basis.

Your niche stirs me to go dirty... what comes to my mind is corporate affiliation, advertorials for brands (you know many companies have a section like this on their websites, not FAQ but innocent q&a based on "life experience"). Rush with promotion, the big fish is coming!

I didn't think this at all. What came to my mind was a site similiar to Yahoo Answers, but much smaller with a more specific niche (general travel and business questions about Asia).

If he can build the site up, making money from advertisements would be a natural progression.
