What to expect from an SEO and budget

I have a very unique service that is getting ready to launch. How much should I budget and expect for SEO expert? Should I try something like ClickBank first where they are paid only on commission? I'm familiar with all the ways to generate traffic but writing articles and blogging is not my forte. Thanks in advance for the advice.

First off the very LAST THING you would evert want any where near the project is a SEO "expert", and you can't have something that is "very unique" something is either unique or it isn't there are no varying degrees of "uniqueness".

If the service is truly unique, SEO will not be of any real use because nobody will be searching for it.

What you DO need is a truly good marketer (and probably copywriter) who can create a "need" for whatever it is, by convincing people it is EXACTLY what they need to enrich their (up to now) pathetic existence.

Quite possibly one of the best single posts I have ever read on a forum.

Thumbs up, 5 stars for you.

Sorry for the long delay. Chrishirst is correct. There is little traffic for what I am doing, and generating a market for it is what I need. How do I begin the search for a good marketer on a shoe string? The concept isn't hard to grasp and most people know if they need it. By hiring an SEO expert, I was hoping generating money through sales and finding the 1/10000 who need it.

By paying peanuts you will only get monkeys. Or "experts"!

This is where "social media" actually has a REAL place in marketing, rather than being used as a poor way for imbeciles to "get valuable backlink".

The places to target to really generate the "buzz" that you will need, will depend on what the "product" is. But press releases are the way to initiate the campaign.

here's a earlier post on the same topic.
http://tycoontalk.freelancer.com/seo...ml#post1059040

What you do need is a "catchy" name, and forget about "keyworded domains", nobody knows what it is yet so you won't be getting and "domain guess" type in traffic

Fire out a well written press release to get peoples attention, do not tell them what it is, just the name and where and when it will be found.
This is a pre product launch marketing campaign. You are not "selling" them anything at this stage, simply creating an awareness or what you are going to be offering people.

The website at this point is very bold, very large
Product Name
COMING
SOON

emblazoned across the centre of the "home" page

Then keep up the hype with a couple more press releases, And with the aid of interested individuals and friends that you can "round up", that's real friends, not the imaginary aquaintenaces who just happened to join your facebook list. You start "talking" about it without revealing too much.

People are essentially curious, it is our nature and you simply have to pique that curiosity and use it to your advantage.

A couple or three months should be enough to create some internet chatter.
