Do some research, find one that doesn't declare themselves as "experts", then ask them for a quote.

Mohit if you want to work as a freelancer in the SEO field. Please read the posts in the SEO section they will help you and also read relevant material on SEO white hat methods to get to know SEO better.

I am currently learning SEO and have no experience in the field but I plan to test it on my blog when I understand it completely.

Regards
Arifeen

So you will never, ever test it then!

You cannot "understand" SEO without actually doing it properly and testing everything as you go along.

Thanks chris your posts are always informative and to the point. I will start implementing what I have learned so far on my blog.

Why? Research what you want your users to see.

I already have a blog which will attract people I am targeting but I need to find the keywords that are searched a lot and have low competition. So that I can show my blog to the audience I am targeting.

Mostly people from my country who want to learn about freelancing and earning money from home. It is somewhat like a promotion of freelancer.com, my affiliate link and awareness campaign.

Please guide me if I am doing it wrong because I learned that keywords research is the first step in SEO.

Words and phrases that are searched for "a lot" are by their very nature competitive.

And unfortunately most these are the clueless masses who believe every word they read and continue to "spread the word" no matter how ridiculous it is!

Wrong, the very first step is knowing what products you are going to sell or what services you are going to promote. Then you can start to look at marketing.

Your biggest problem is the same thing thing that so many have, and that is you are under the impression that the only way to get traffic and sales is from search engines, so you have this dumb idea that ranking is everything and the only way to get "rankings" is from links.

Here's the issue: most think that if they can get the #1 ranking term for their industry they'll spend $0 and bring in millions of conversions. I don't blame them for wanting that. 1 popular keyword such as "SEO Company" would probably bring in enough business that you wouldn't need a marketing campaign.

Odds are, you won't get that ranking. If you really want just one keyword, work at it. It's not the best solution by any means.

That certainly USED to be the case in in 1999 when users weren't so savvy, Internet search engines weren't so advanced and there wasn't as many pages to choose from for any particular query.

This may seem like common sense when hiring any service provider, but most buyers still skip this important part of the process. As you’re interviewing SEO experts, rather than focusing your inquiries on individual skill-sets, place more emphasis on results already achieved for clients. Having knowledge of all the Internet acronyms in the world doesn’t matter one bit when it doesn’t produce the results your business is looking for. The SEO provider should be able to identify prior issues that a client came to them with, and the unique way in which the situation was resolved for top rankings. Every business has different needs and it’s important that the SEO service provider you’re looking to hire is capable of deciphering your business’ unique needs.
