I have been working hard with SEO for my site. I hope by the next PR update I can be a pr4 or pr5 if I keep working hard.

Anyways I have been trying to get on the first page for the keyword "Computer Support"
Is that a big goal? Type it in at google and tell me? Should I try it? I was going to re-write my page to include a lot of that keyword but should I or should I try another?

Whats a good tool to tell how many times a keyword is searched in google every day or monthly?

Just need some help targeting some keywords.
Thanks

if i were you i'd aim at a localised keyword/s like "computer support london" or whatever area you service. Once you hit this keyword you can target the bigger keyword/s

Use a suggestion tool to see how many searches it gets a month or a day. To determine difficulty, you can use McDar's Keyword Analysis tool @ http://www.mcdar.net/KeywordTool/keywordtool.asp.

Basically it'll show your competition's PR, General Backlinks, Anchor Position, and more.

Here you go:
http://www.searchbliss.com/seo-tools...suggestion.asp
It uses Overture as mentioned above. Why not just use Overture? Because there are several other useful tools, all in one spot.

use overtures to check which keywords are popular, and its best to focus on a more niche search term.. computer support is abit large, but good luck.

Ok pick out some from this list.

tab delimited file if you import it into a spreadsheet

2053 phrases real people have used in the last 60 days from the Wordtracker database. This is from my paid account not the free version.

Computer support & spyware as seed terms and then "cherry picked" just as I would for a client.
This list needs thinning out a little more, That's where the real work starts

Okay I found some keywords so what do I do to make them work in my site? Can I put them in a list up top and make them the background color of the site so no-one can see them or is there something wrong with that?

Just wondered like if I have 12 keyword phrases I want to target(since they arent searched much and only have a few results daily) how I would go about getting on the first page. The more times I add them to my site type does that mean I get more chance of getting number one because it could mean to SE's my site is more relevant to the topic?

Thanks

Nope, Oldest trick in the book It will get you a penalty at some point.

This is now where the real skill comes into play, knowing exactly how to use the phrases. You should work them naturally into Page Titles, in the page copy, in headings and sub headings and anchor text. Write a meta description around the same phrases. Use 2 to 3 phrases per page so the text then doesn't become forced and look stilted.

I disagree Chris, he should paste them into the body of the page over and over again making the text the same color as the background so it looks like a blank page. Oh, and do this with links as well and your site will rise to the top! HA HA HE HE HE

But in all seriousness, listen to Chris on this one.

I have heard that between 5 and 7 percent keyword density is best.

Yeah but I have several! That would mean a pretty big write up on the main page. I now only have like 300 words on the front page.

"computer support" is a very competitive phrase. There are 260,000,000 Google search results. The above posters are correct. You should try to target a more specific search phrase and progress from there.
Good luck.

Why would it ?

BTW ignore Keyword Density as a numeric value, just another myth.

Then what should I do when adding my new keywords in my type up? Just add them where they make sense and not try to get them posted over and over? Im planning on re-writing the main page anyways to make it look more professional.
