client has multiple domains registered... best options?
Hi, I've just picked up a client who only wants his site optomized for search engines, presently he's not ranking anywhere with anyone that I can tell, not a single keyword on his site and page titles like "page1" and "page 2"

Anyway, no problem with that but during our inital conversation he mentioned that he has 3 or 4 domain names registered that he's done nothing with. All related to his company but not his company name.

Certainly he could do a perminant redirect to his existing page which is useful for people who guess at a domain name but not much else.

The other thought that I had was that he could use those pages for articles related to his buisness.... like information pages with links to his service site on each of them.

Which, if either, would be a better option? Or is there something else besides these or a "holding place" that multiple related domain names would be useful for?

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Lisa

I'd make "mini sites" that relate to the main site and write articles on each of those sites, pointing to the main site.

Put them all on different hosts or IP's though

You don't need this crap about different host/IPs etc. Only the people who are trying to hide their network of sites reccommend this kind of stuff.

Just park all the domains on the one site and make that the best site it can be rather than spreading your efforts over several mediocre sites.

Either ignore the other sites (they're not being used anyway) or add a 301 redirect to each of them and concentrate on making one site the best site.

I agree, develop one good site with the best domain name. You would be better off to create an articles section or whatever in the main site which will give the site depth and good unique content rather than to spend your time on the other sites for little benefit. Good luck!
