Of course it is useful. If the links linking to your website are placed on a site that has high page rank, your page rank will be higher too. The more relevant backlinks you've got, the higher position you'll get. Of course, all that if you did a good SEO on your website.

Yes backlinks are very important especially with Google where if you're in a competitve industry they are essential. You ideally want to have one-way inbound links from relevant sites that uses the keywords you want to rank for in the anchor text.

Backlinks are very important with Google. Yahoo also uses them quite a bit. The more quality backlinks you have pointing to your site the better that your site is likely to rank in the search engines.

Wow! I love it!

That tool is amazing. When ever I try it with my site it times out which only really means that I have more backlinks than what it can handle.

OK!

I wish!

It's just the software doesn't seem to work properly with me.

Hows about changing your outgoing links from a href to an onclick.

Does google look for href over onclick or will it simply over step a link thats in the jscript form of onclick="parent.location='....

Crawlers do not trigger javascript events

Only href & src links are crawlable

So its good practice then to javascript your outgoing links should the number of those links greatly exceed incoming links?

even if the link if hidden in the code it will still get crawled. Spider just chews up code and spits out everything that looks like a link.

I'm also wondering why you would use javascript in outgoing links. I'm guessing you're thinking is so that the Google won't see them and not 'bleed' your page rank. Keep in mind though that search engine rankings are not all about page rank.

It's actually a good idea to have outgoing links from your site as long as they go to quality sites. You should always build your site for your visitors first. I may be mistaken, but I think that having a few quality outgoing links will actually help your ranking.

We list lots of clubs and villa's and they do not have quality sites nor do they link back to us. We are indeed been bled heavily from this and so far have managed to gain PR of 3 and no higher.

I have refined and refined and continue to refine my SEO. We have plenty of content on the site and plenty of users but our accompanying magazine is the reason why we have our members and not the fact that we are placed well in Google or any other search engine.

I am now looking at ways to step up my SEO and keep as much score as possible without it been bled. It was suggested to me that parent.location= as opposed to href= is a trick that does not leave you with PR been drained away.

Of course I still retain outbound links in the old fashion but for a directory listing of N clubs or Villa's i was wondering if this worked, if it was good practice or if their was indeed any point.

Thanks

It's crap

PR Does NOT drain away with outgoing links See many threads here on this subject

PR means next to nothing for anything
If nobody links to you that is why your PR doesn't increase. Absolutely nothing to do with outgoing links !!!

no it doesn't work, it's not good practice and no, there is no point to doing it.
