I see alot of the SEO posts referencing "anchor text", what is considered anchor text? Is it the meta description, keywords on the page or what? Also if you know a good resource where I can learn more about it please post a link. Thanks much

Hi werken247,

the text 'www.esteemweb.com' you can see in your sig is anchor text (it's also the url). If you had put "web design" or something descriptive of the link between your <a> tags, that would be more useful.

HTML Code:
<a href="www.esteemweb.com">descriptive anchor text</a>
EDIT: i.e. what kline11 said!

Another thing you could also add in the anchor tag is 'Title' value as well (Shown on mouse over)

People think it gives an seo boost like using the alt attribute on an image tag. Neither is really going to do much though they might give a slight boost I guess. An all other things being equal kind of thing.

The title attribute is really meant for accesibiltly issues and to give a little extra information about where a link might lead.

Here's an aticle on the alt and title attributes and opinions on the proper use for each.
