I am looking for someone to do SEO work on my website. Can anyone recommend a good person or company that charges a reasonable fee for qualitty work?

I am not trying to be cheap but i dont quite understand how there can be such huge differences in the prices being charged for essentially the same services.

Thanks!

All depends what you want. The best will always cost and paying peanuts will likely get you monkeys working for you

You are better approaching some of the mods and members here who's knowledge and skills you feel you can trust rather than asking anyone to contact you
The SEO world is full of chancers and wannabes who could do more damage than good. Caveat Emptor has never been so true.

I think picking a good seo is hard. I am new to this and it would be nice to have something, like software to plug it in for you

It can be difficult to make the right choice. It's 95% about trust and going with your instincts, if the proposal looks suspect then it probably is
No software can really do the optimising, it's not as simple as following a formula.

I only trust myself with SEO. So many of these "companies" are a scam. Avoid anything and everything that looks too good to be true, like "Be #1 on Google". It IS too good to be true. I would suggest taking some time and reading obout SEO, even if you choose a third party, you will have a better idea of what is going on (more control).

I agree with both Chris and Kline11. Anyone guaranteeing you results isn't anyone you want to deal with. If it's too good to be true it really is.

And it really is a good idea to learn more about seo in general whether you decide to do it on your own or hire someone to do the work. The more you know the better you're equipped to make a good decision.

There aren't any magic formulas when it comes to seo. The principles are relatively simple. The hard part is sorting through all the misinformation out there. Once you grasp the basics the rest really comes down to hard work.

From what I've been reading anyone who can offer #1 guarnteed might be able to do it however they are normally (99.999% of the time) using techniques that can get you band from the search engines or are getting you number one for a search term like "Hamilton Ontario Canada Website Design, Development and Marketing" This will get you (maybe if your lucky) 1 click a century. Learning on your own is the best way. My site, if you're interested, can get you started (no not selling anything) http://www.webcytedesign.net/online_marketing.aspx I normally list any tools I find to be of interest plus links to guys like Matt Cutts and Bruce Clay
