The only problem with submitting your articles to other article directories is that probably 30% of folks who download free articles don't relist your link correctly (if at all) which means your only benifit is the link you get from the directory... which is a link still though.

Just wanted to add.... double check your links in your articles. Some article directories post your links incorrectly!

Articles are the best! But I agree, as the owner of an Article directory, we can unintentionally mess up a link or two. I and most of my fellow AD owner's are more than happy to correct them if you let us know.

I do want to reiterate how important it is to check out your article's to make sure they're posted correctly in directories...especially if you use submitting services. I myself accept articles from submission services and have used them to post my own, but due to the volume of articles they deal with mistakes can happen!

Writing and submitting articles to Ezines and article directories is indeed a very good idea, these articles are picked up by webmasters looking to add content to their own web site, which will get you tons of one way backlinks.

its a good idea, and is infact something that we do as well.... however i think that if google finds the same contact across multiple pages and they all point to a particular web site, it still only counts it as one link.

Links from articles sites can increase PR, but PR don't meen higher serps.

Articles can be a great way to get links, but keep in mind it's not about raising your PR. It's about directing targeted traffic to your site. Ashish I think Google will count more than one link as long as they come from different sites.

You might be thinking of sitewide links where all the links are on the same site. I think in that case Google will still count all the links, but the weight of most after the first few will decrease and not have a major effect.

Will article submission will increase traffic to my site. Does it will be regarded as duplicate content and get penalized for that in the long run.

I don't think you'll be penalized for any duplicate content. The duplicate content stuff takes all the code from the sites into account if I'm not mistaken. It's natural for sites to republish articles and I can't see how you would be penalized for it.

At most if there's a search where the article is a relevant result search engines may only show 1 version of it and it might not be the one on your site, but that's fine since what you want with the article submission is the link back to you. It's not about having that page found for your site though that would be nice too.

Of course, article submission will help you to get backlinks.
But you should remember, that content of the aricle should be interesting and useful for the readers. In this case people will read you article, like it, and maybe then they will go to your site. So article will not only bring you some links but will increase your traffic.

Good point. It's really the same with all links to your site. The link itself can provide traffic regardless of how it will help with search engines. That's why I'm always recommending relevant and quality links. Get enough of thos and you'll get traffic no matter how well you do in a search engine.

With articles if you write some good ones people will remember the article and it's author, especially if they see several good articles by the same author. As they see your name more they will click on the link and check out the site.
